Elizabeth Gutrecht Lyster, M.D.
Board Certified Obstetrician / Gynecologist

I received my medical degree from the University of California at Irvine, and completed my residency at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. After achieving my Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology, I went on to complete a Master of Public Health degree at UCLA, in the field of Health Education. I am a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

I speak Spanish and French fluently, and am literate in Hebrew. I am committed to educating caregivers in issues of cultural competence, multiculturalism, and language access. I have been a Physician Consultant to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, California District, for a project on improving access to Women's Health Care for patients with limited English proficiency.

I am a certified mohel, having completed the certification program through the Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles, California, in 2003. I have done circumcision procedures since 1990 as an OB/GYN doctor, and am blessed to now be able to officiate at bris ceremonies.

My most important job in life is being a wife and the mother of two young sons, and I am very involved in my community. I serve on the Board of Trustees at Temple Beth El of South Orange County and I am the Chair of the Rituals Committee. I am a regular participant, and occasional discussion leader, in a lay-led weekly Torah Study group at TBE-SOC.
