Procedure Performed:
VASER® liposculpting was done under tumescent anesthesia with the patient completely awake and very gently sedated with only Ativan. No narcotics were used. The areas treated included upper and lower abdomen, mons pubis, and flanks. A total of four pounds of fat were removed removed resulting in approximately 3 inches of waistline reduction. No sutures were placed post op. There were no complications.

Patient History:
Pleasant middle aged professional in her mid 30s requested a reduction in abdominal girth and fat content. She was currently on a weight loss program and wanted a “jump start” in her efforts to reclaim her pre-pregnancy weight and shape. She wanted an improvement in her silhouette without a surgical tummy tuck and did not want any downtime due to her self-employed status.

Post-Op Course:
The patient required a minimal amount of pain medications (Ibuprofen) and was able to walk home and be pain free the entire day. She wore an abdominal binder that kept her abdomen compressed. Results:
The patient went to work the next day with minimal discomfort. She felt like she had done a few hundred sit ups but it did not interfere in her ability to walk and work in her office. At one week post op, as seen in the photos, she was very happy with her results and planning for her next liposculpturing of back and thighs.

Comments:
This is an excellent example of a patient that is perfect for Vaser Liposelection. She wanted an outpatient awake procedure not needing an IV or hospital or surgical center stay. She wanted no downtime. She wanted a sleeker appearance and the ability to wear clothes from the past. She also did not want an abdominoplasty and had realistic expectations of results. She realized that it would take more exercise and dietary follow up to continue her improvement and achieve her final goal of normal weight and shape. She did not consider Vaser to be a weight management technique but more of a sculpting procedure that would give her an excellent outlook on her way to a new body.
